| Desert Acres Arabians is located in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada. Owned and operated by Tracey and Dan Duriez. Our small breeding operation is making a name for itself by breeding regional and national quality purebreds and partbreds. The picture above was taken overlooking the magnificent Peace River Valley.
We started in 1992 when we leased purebred arabian stallion Desiderata (Pad-O Mac Hilan X Raff-Zimada) and two purebred mares Arco Tsaveena and Jomar Zarann, from long time arabian breeders and good friends Chris & Marilyn Maggs. This started our passion for arabians. Out of this combination came our greatest mare D.A. Fantazi, who is the epitome of grace and beauty.
In 1994 we had the great fortune of purchasing the purebred arabian stallion Mark One (Gai Sparkler X Princess Galama). This led to the expansion of our operation and the desire for a higher caliber of horse. This wish was granted with D.A. Mark Of Excellence owned and shown by Tracey Duriez, DA Echos In The Wind owned and shown by Pam Jarratt and DA One Perfect Melody owned and shown by Jodie Surerus Chapple all of whom qualified and showed at Region 17 Championships in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. The result of this endeavor produced 5 Championships, 2 Reserve Championships and a Top Five.
Along with trainer Todd Ehret , Jodie Surerus Chapple and DA One Perfect Melody continued to shine at Scottsdale 2005 in the dressage and sport horse classes.
2005 Region 17 Championships brought more ribbons and trophies including 7 Championships, 8 Reserve Championships and 3 Top Fives for DA One Perfect Melody and Njuepic. 2005 Canadian Nationals were continued success with a championship ,reserve championship and 6 top tens. 2005 Sport Horse Nationals brought 4 more championships, 3 reserve championships and 7 top tens.....Well Done!!
With the tragic death of Mark One in March 2001 our breeding program changed once again. We decided to purchase a purebred American Saddlebred stallion Tag You're It ( Cocoa's Rocky Road X Sultan's Simi In Gold). This stallion added some great english prospects to our program. With the sale of this young stallion to pursue a brilliant show career we were again looking for a new stallion.
In May 2003 we were again fortunate to lease the purebred arabian stallion BA Samantic ( Zodiac Matador X Samaska) from Mrs. Donna Ivany. In May 2004 we had the opportunity to purchase this fabulous well bred stallion and did so. Thank you so much Donna for making another dream become a reality. We have ten outstanding purebred and partbred fillies and four colts from this great stallion. We are very sad to announce the passing of BA Samantic on November 30,2007. His sweet disposition will be greatly missed but he left us a legacy of beautiful babies. As one door closes I am sure another will open. Thanks so much to everyone for their words of sympathy and support.
So as you can see we strive to produce great minded horses of high calibre and distinction. Our youngsters are sent for their initial training to well known and respected trainer Wanda Leubner who owns and operates Aspen Park, located in Leduc, Alberta, Canada. Check out her website at www.aspenparkequine.com . Here the natural talent of each individual is perfected and their career begins. |
